Free everything, but for those who have to survive, it is not like that. We get paid 10-15 a month, and food is 200-300 a month. The Cuban economy is sustained by people from around the world sending money back to their families,” Alejandro Gonzalez said. “That is the reality of Cuba.” When asked what the panelists thought about how many well-off Americans, such as Jane Fonda, supported the Castro regime, they clarified that it is because they have never lived under such a system. “I think it is a product of American privilege. They are so disconnected from hardship and survival,” Josue Alvarez said. “Once you stop worrying about food and basic needs, you worry about social issues. That is the next logical level. That is American privilege.” In his 2007 film Sicko, Michael Moore praised the Cuban healthcare system. When the panelists were asked if they believed he was truly naive or all in on the propaganda, they confirmed it was the latter. “There has to be an agenda,” Gonzalez said. “It takes a lot of money to sell a lie. To make you realize something is not true, [Cuban officials] spend a lot of money to make you believe something that is not real. When you are living under fear and without food, you don't need anyone to sell you that lie. That is why they get these players to make it seem like the Cuban regime is something beautiful when it is not.”Day said that when she sees Americans idolizing Cuba, it is dangerous because if the US falls, there is nowhere else to go. “We came to this country looking for freedom. This is the place where we found the opportunity to be where we couldn't be in our country,” Day said.
