WATCH: Labour MP challenges minister on deportation of Shabir Ahmed: 'What conversations were had?!'

Labour MP Jim McMahon has challenged his own party what the Government has done to discuss the deportation of Rochdale grooming gang leader Shabir Ahmed.Ahmed, 73, was released early from prison last week after failing to serve his full 19-year sentence, handed to him in 2012.Addressing the Commons, Mr McMahon asked: Given where we are now that all options are on the table, including on Monday when the Immigration and Asylum Bill comes before the House. And secondly, can we update the House on what conversation has taken place with Pakistan?Border Security and Asylum Minister Alex Norris responded: I've known the honourable gentleman for a very, very long time indeed. I know on this issue in the protection of his constituents in Oldham, he is resolute and is fighting day by day, and his contribution is very much in the spirit of that. I can absolutely confirm with him that all options are on the table. I share his anger, the anger of his community on this issue with regards to engagements with the government of Pakistan. That is something that I have done personally in recent months, and we do on a very frequent basis indeed. It is in all our interests for us to have excellent returns agreements with as many countries as possible that are functional as well.
