UAE Public Holidays 2026: Here is when your next long weekend in Dubai will be

Dubai: If you’re just returning to work after a week-long break and wondering when the next public holiday is, don’t worry – you can expect a day off this month as well.The UAE’s Cabinet has issued Cabinet Resolution No. (27) of 2024 Concerning the Public Holidays in the State, which provides the list of public holidays that will be observed in the country, including days of religious and national importance.With half the year almost over, you have four more days of public holiday still to come in the second half of this year.1. Hijri New Year (One-day holiday)This month, you can look forward to another quick break, with a one-day holiday for the Hijri New Year on Muharram 1, which is expected to fall mid-June. The exact dates for the holiday will be announced by the authorities and are based on the sighting of the moon for the Hijri month.2. Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday (One-day holiday)In August, too, there will be a one-day holiday to mark Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, which falls on the 12th day of the Hijri month of Rabi Al Awwal. Once again, the exact date of the holiday will be declared after the announcement by the moon-sighting committee.3. UAE National Day (Two-day holiday)The last long holiday for the year will be for the UAE National Day, where residents will enjoy a two-day break from Wednesday, December 2 to Thursday, December 3.So, you can expect a good mid-week break in the last month of the year.All Islamic dates are subject to announcements from the UAE’s moon-sighting committee.The new year is also set to begin with a welcome break, as January 1, an official holiday under Cabinet Resolution No. (27) of 2024, falls on a Friday.
