Rod Stewart Spotted Drinking at World Cup After Show Cancellation

The British singer announced on Friday that he would not perform in San Diego as part of his One Last Time farewell tour, canceling the show just 45 minutes before it was due to start. He later clarified that doctors had diagnosed him with an acute upper respiratory infection that led to laryngitis. Yet on Saturday, the Maggie May singer posted a video on Instagram showing him on a private jet with his sons as they flew to Boston to watch Scotland play Haiti in a World Cup match. “No Scotland, no party!” Stewart said in the clip and was later photographed drinking at the match, which Scotland won by one goal. A representative for Stewart told The San Diego Union-Tribune that the singer’s decision to cancel the show was “accurate,” adding that he had been given “a few rounds of steroids and treatment in the hope of being able to perform.” The representative also said Stewart was only able to text during the match “because he had no voice.” The next scheduled concert on the tour is set for June 15 in Colorado.
