Ghalibaf likens Iran's World Cup draw to wartime resilience

Ghalibaf likens Iran's World Cup draw to wartime resilience Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has praised the national football team's defensive performance in its World Cup draw against Belgium, comparing the display to Iranian people's steadfast defence of their country during the war against the United States and Israel. In a post on X shortly after the match, Ghalibaf shared a photograph from the game with the caption: This is how we protect our land. The message drew a direct comparison between Iran's performance on the pitch and the country's response during the conflict. Goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand played a key role in the goalless draw, producing a series of saves to deny Belgium's attack, which included Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Iran's defence remained organised throughout the match, while Belgium's task became more difficult after defender Nathan Ngoy was sent off for fouling striker Mehdi Taremi. GOP in panic mode after mailers promote supremacist messaging

The Tennessee Young Republicans, a GOP-affiliated group, published a statement on Monday distancing itself from white supremacist messages and mailers sent by Austin Lee, president of the Tennessee Maury County Young Republicans chapter. β€œThe views expressed therein DO NOT constitute the views or an official position of the TYRF,” the Tennessee Young Republicans stated and signed off on by their executive committee.Lee, who uses the slogan Save White America, admitted to sending mailers to thousands of conservatives in his area. The mailers called for residents to help halt wars for Jews, place men in charge, expel the invader, and stop the Great Replacement, a far-right theory suggesting immigration policies are designed to replace the white population, according to Lee's social media post on X. Another mailer urged fellow American patriots to solve the problem of nonwhite foreigners who had invaded our country and are replacing White Americans, according to Lee's post on X. Lee also falsely referred to state Rep. Scott Cepicky (R-TN) as Jewish and, in a separate post, talked about what he called the Jewish issue.Lee's comments were flagged Tuesday by the progressive outlet Tennessee Holler. Republicans Are A Toxic Partisanship Machine

Mainstream journalists and pundits decry toxic partisanship in America without ever recognizing the fact that the Republican Party and its agents treat the generation of toxic partisanship as a primary goal. They wake up every morning, sip their coffee, open their laptops, and think, How can I make my audience hate Democrats and liberals today? Every news story must be recast so that their political enemies are the villains, while they are either victims or heroes. So we had the neo-fascist Patriot Front marching through Washington yesterday, their faces covered by gaiters. Some of them carried Confederate flags. This was embarrassing to Republican commentators, so they agreed on the message that these marchers couldn't possibly be people from their side. Their only disagreement was over which hated group was responsible. I call fake. Looks more like Antifa in costume. No one should be allowed to cover their faces pic.twitter.com/2NoBWHpkKT β€” Laura Ingraham (@IngrahamAngle) July 4, 2026 Feds https://t.co/sOwAPseYPgread more
