Explosies in Syrische hoofdstad bij hotel van Franse president Macron

Hij is veilig en het bezoek gaat door, aldus het Elysée. De omgeving van het Four Seasons Hotel is afgezet. Of er slachtoffers zijn, is op dit moment niet duidelijk. De Syrische autoriteiten hebben nog niets gemeld over het incident. De explosies komen enkele dagen na een bomaanslag op een druk café in het centrum van de stad. Daarbij vielen donderdag zeker tien doden. Macron is gisteravond aangekomen in Damascus. Het is het eerste bezoek van een EU-leider aan het land sinds president Sharaa er de dienst uitmaakt na de val van het regime van Assad eind 2024.
