Celtics Don't Believe They've Reached Irreconcilable Place With Jaylen Brown

The Boston Celtics do not believe they will be forced to trade Jaylen Brown this offseason after previously offering him to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Sources tell The Stein Line that the Celtics view a reconciliation with Brown as a plausible scenario. However, rival teams are convinced that the Celtics won't be able to retain Brown going into next season and that they will ultimately need to choose a trade. Whereas the Bucks could consider a number of trade scenarios for Antetokounmpo as they initiate a rebuild, the Celtics will only trade Brown for a type of return that allows them to remain in title contention around Jayson Tatum. Brown eligible for a two-year, 141.8 million contract extension in July that would be a possible avenue for the two sides to recommit to each other.
