Pakistan and Afghanistan are once again locked in a dangerous cycle of violence. A deadly militant attack in Karachi, claimed by a faction of the Pakistani Taliban, has triggered Pakistani cross-border strikes inside Afghanistan. Pakistan launches strikes along Afghan border, claims killing 29 militants as fresh tensions erupt

Pakistan's security forces on Sunday launched a major counter-terror operation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, combining a ground offensive with what Islamabad described as calibrated strikes on militant hideouts. According to Pakistani officials, the operation resulted in the killing of 29 militants and was carried out in response to a series of recent terror attacks across the country. Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced the operation through a post on X, stating that the military action targeted militant infrastructure operating near the border. While Pakistan claimed the strikes were aimed at the Pakistani Taliban and allied groups, there was no immediate reaction from Afghanistan.
