C&L's Late Nite Music Club: Taylor Swift: I Was There

The New York Knicks had a historic run to win the 2026 NBA Championship. As a kid, I saw Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, and the rest of Red Holzman's teams win two championships. Game seven vs the Lakers in 1970 was not even televised locally because it wasn't a total sell-out -- if you can believe that. It has been darkness for decades. In Game One of the conference finals against Cleveland, the Knicks were down by 22 with under 8 minutes to go, and they orchestrated an amazing comeback to win in OT and then sweep the Cavaliers. Game four of the NBA finals will go down as one of the greatest NBA finals games, with the Knicks by 29 points at home, rallying again to take the game and win the series in 5 games. Taylor Swift was there too. I WAS THERE tells the story of a once-in-a-generation night at Madison Square Garden when the New York Knicks came back from 29 points down and reminded the world who they were. Through the eyes of an outsider, this song captures the emotion, the hope, the tears, and the belief that filled the arena that unforgettable night. This isn't just a basketball song. It's about perseverance. It's about faith. It's about never giving up when the odds say you should. Open thread. read more

Matthew Boyd Silences Orioles as Cubs Hand Baltimore Crushing 50th Loss of 2026 Season

The Baltimore Orioles suffered another damaging setback on Tuesday night as Matthew Boyd delivered a masterful pitching performance, leading the Chicago Cubs to a 5-2 victory at Camden Yards and handing Baltimore its 50th loss of the 2026 MLB season. The defeat pushed the Orioles further into trouble in the American League East standings, adding more pressure to a season that has failed to meet expectations. Baltimore struggled to generate consistent offense against Boyd, who controlled the game from the mound and kept the Orioles lineup quiet through six dominant innings. Boyd’s performance became the defining storyline of the night.

OPINION - I’m not surprised Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are getting married at Madison Square Garden

If you’ve ever been to a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden there’s one piece of small talk you’ll be practically guaranteed to hear: ‘You know the ice rink is right underneath.’ Conversely, if you’re there watching a bruised twenty-something-year-old New York Rangers player be taken off the ice you’ll hear the opposite: ‘And then they turn it into a basketball court’. When I saw Billy Joel there a few years ago, seated in a crowd of nearly 20,000 during just one evening of his decade-long residency, I did not expect the concert to be such an intimate experience.

Heat Have Interest in Bradley Beal, Khris Middleton, Gabe Vincent

Once they complete the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis, the Miami Heat will have a lot of roster spots to fill. The challenge for the Heat is that they are working with mostly veteran minimum contracts to offer. The good news is that there are a lot of options for Miami to pursue. Three veterans on the Heat's radar are Bradley Beal, Khris Middleton and Gab Vincent. Beal recently opted out of his deal with the LA Clippers. The veteran shooting guard is coming off a lost season in LA, after he was shut down after six games due to a left hip fracture. Middleton split last season between the Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks. He has extensive experience playing with Antetokounmpo from their time together with the Milwaukee Bucks. Vincent split last season with the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks. The Heat are familiar with the point guard, as Vincent spent the first four seasons of his NBA career in Miami.

George Gojkovich / Getty ImagesFormer NFL linebacker Keith Mitchell has died at 51, according to an announcement by Texas AM athletics on Thursday. No cause of death was disclosed. Mitchell signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 1997 and spent five seasons with the franchise, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2000. He later embraced yoga and wellness, crediting the practice with saving his life, and published The Mindfulness Mastery Playbook late last year.Read it at NBC SportsRead more at The Daily Beast.
