RTA announces air-conditioned rest rooms for delivery drivers

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed full operational readiness of air-conditioned rest rooms for delivery bike drivers in Dubai during summer.Around 40 such air-conditioned rest rooms are being set up across different parts of the emirate, RTA said. Their locations have been identified using operational data and a comprehensive study of the highest-demand delivery zones, conducted in coordination with delivery companies.The locations include Hessa Street, Al Khawaneej, Al Barsha, Al Satwa, Umm Ramool, Al Karama, and Arjan. Maintenance and initial works have been completed for all air-conditioned rest areas designated for delivery riders, the RTA said.The move is as part of its efforts to improve traffic safety, and reduce the risk of accidents on the roads, enhance the quality of life and comfort for motorcyclists, and encourage them to abide by traffic laws and traffic regulations.Ahmed Mahboob, Executive Director of the Licensing Authority at the Authority, stressed that the Authority attaches utmost importance to traffic safety, aiming to make Dubai the safest in the world. He pointed out that the Authority has developed an integrated work system for the delivery sector to ensure the governance of the sector in the Emirate and contribute to enhancing the level of services.He explained that the exterior design of the restrooms took into account the reduction of the effect of sunlight inside the restroom, and the provision of appropriate insulation without blocking the view, and theThe rest rooms include an air-conditioned space equipped with water dispensers and a mobile phone charging area. Each rest room can accommodate about 10 people, and there is provision for a sufficient number of parking spaces for motorcycles. The restrooms also have features that contribute to meeting their daily needs.
