Qatar coach Lopetegui: We have earned the right to dream

Asian champions Qatar have qualified for the FIFA World Cup through the qualification process for the first time in the nation's history. Drawn in Group B alongside Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland, the 2022 hosts now face a new challenge on football's biggest stage. Head coach Julen Lopetegui described qualification as a historic achievement and said the team has earned the right to enjoy the occasion. He stressed that Qatar must approach the tournament without pressure while remaining ambitious and competitive. Lopetegui said every World Cup group is difficult, with opponents featuring players competing at the highest levels of the game. He also highlighted the need to adapt to unfamiliar kick-off times and conditions, insisting there can be no excuses at a World Cup.
