Grooming gang survivor warns abusers are ‘welcomed back with open arms’ by their communities after ringleader freed

A survivor of Rotherham grooming gangs has warned that perpetrators are “welcomed back in with open arms” in their communities after serving time for their abuse.Sarah Wilson was speaking to GB News as Shabir Ahmed, the ringleader of an infamous Rochdale gang, was freed after serving 14 years of a 19-year sentence for a litany of horrific crimes. Despite being stripped of his British citizenship, Ahmed cannot be deported to Pakistan because of protections in the Immigration Act 1971. “He came over to this country to abuse children. After his sentence, he should be sent home and deported straight away, not given a second chance,” Ms Wilson said. “The grooming gangs are so widespread. They have connections in every town, every city and every single village. No one's safe.”“Their communities don't shun them. They don't isolate them. They're welcomed back in with open arms like nothing's happened... It's not fair on every single survivor,” she said.Ms Wilson told the The People's Channel of her aungish after learning two of her own abusers were set for early release.WATCH THE FULL CLIP ABOVE Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
