Police lock down beach in major UK city after discovering 'unexploded ordnance'

A bustling Scottish beach has been sealed off after police were called to reports of an unexploded ordnance.A Royal Navy bomb squad was called to the Esplanade at Aberdeen Beach after the force was made aware of the hazard this morning.Police urged the public to avoid the area while the object is investigated by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, with a police cordon erected to prevent public access.Police Scotland said in a statement: Around 9.25am on Tuesday, June 16, we were called to a report of a suspected unexploded ordnance on Aberdeen Beach, Esplanade, Aberdeen.
