IMD issues red alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar; Mumbai local train services affected | 10 Points
Amid heavy rains in the city, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a red alert for rain for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar and added that intense spells of rain at isolated places. Several parts of Mumbai received over 100 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8 am on Wednesday, resulting in waterlogging at the Andheri subway and a few other low-lying areas, officials said. The inundation prompted the authorities to divert traffic, they said.
