No, because we will only be doing our job. The philosophy served as a counterpoint to complacency. Mamdani was not arguing for passivity but for the expectation that excellence is the baseline, not the goal. He reinforced this by also referencing José Mourinho's famous phrase about parking the bus, assuring that New York would not be defensive or minimal in its approach but would pursue genuine excellence in infrastructure, services and security. Mamdani's invocation of a footballer's wisdom in the context of municipal governance drew attention on social media, particularly in Italy, where Balotelli's quote has become something of a cultural reference point for the philosophy of unshowy competence and duty.
