Martin Lewis issues fuel station warning to petrol and diesel drivers - 'Watch out'

Money saving expert Martin Lewis has issued an alert to drivers heading to fuel stations over the coming days and weeks amid fears that prices could rise.Motorists up and down the country have dealt with huge petrol and diesel price shocks in recent weeks in response to soaring oil costs as a result of escalating tensions in the Middle East. The latest data from RAC Fuel Watch shows that drivers are currently paying 152.69p per litre for petrol, and 170.01p for diesel. It predicts that prices should fall, although some motorway service stations are charging around 20p more per litre for both petrol and diesel. TRENDING Stories Videos Your Say While prices have fallen slightly since prices peaked in April and May, drivers are still being cautioned to shop around for the cheapest fuel in their area.Writing on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, Martin Lewis told drivers: Now is the time to watch for price gouging. It normally happens when prices drop after a peak, not rise.He noted that the price of Brent crude oil has fallen around 40 (£30) compared to peaks seen in the months following the start of the Iran war at the end of February. The financial expert highlighted that immediately before war broke out, prices were around 67 (£51), but would generally stay around 60 (£46).Mr Lewis continued, saying: So it's not quite back to where it was yet. However, that means we should've seen (as many have) petrol and diesel dropping, and govt should check its dropping enough. In a response to another X user, he clarified that there was no accusation of profiteering from supermarkets and major retailers. However, he explained that now is the time to be vigilant, as well as stating that fluctuating prices should be monitored.GB News has rounded up the most expensive petrol and diesel prices this week, based on data from the Government's Fuel Finder tool.LATEST DEVELOPMENTSElectric cars are 'more expensive and take longer to repair' than petrol and diesel vehiclesBritons who refuse to pay benefits debts risk losing driving licence under tough new rulesCar insurance prices rise for first time in two years as costs could soar to record high soonMost expensive petrol pricesTriangle Ealing, Ealing, London (W5 4QT) - 176.9pSouth Mimms SF Connect MWSA, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire (EN6 3QQ) - 175.9pShell Hapsford MWSA, Hapsford, Cheshire (CH2 4QZ) - 175.9pRownhams East and West MWSA, Southampton, Hampshire (SO16 8AP) - 174.9pMichaelwood North and South SFC MWSA, Dursley, Gloucestershire (GL11 6DD) - 174.9pWinchester North and South Connect MWSA, Winchester, Hampshire (SO21 1PP) - 174.9pReading East and West Connect MWSA, Reading, Berkshire (RG30 3UQ) - 174.9pStrensham MWSA Connect, Strensham, Worcestershire (WR8 9LJ) - 174.9pNorton Canes Connect MWSA, Cannock, Staffordshire (WS11 9UX) - 174.9pStafford Connect MWSA, Stone, Staffordshire (ST15 0EU) - 174.9pMost expensive diesel pricesKP Hill Service Station, Blackley, Manchester (M9 8WQ) - 199.9pWelcome Break Oxford, Waterstock, Oxfordshire (OX33 1LJ) - 196.9pMidland Link Service Station, Gravelly Hill, Birmingham (B24 8LY) - 196.9pWelcome Break Charnock Richard South, Chorley, Lancashire (PR7 5LR) - 194.9pWelcome Break Woodall South Forecourt, Woodall, South Yorkshire (S26 7XR) - 194.9pWelcome Break Gordano, Bristol, Bristol (BS20 7XG) - 194.9pWelcome Break Newport Pagnall South, Newport Pagnell, Bedfordshire (MK16 8DS) - 194.9pWelcome Break Membury East, Hungerford, West Berkshire (RG17 7TZ) - 194.9pWelcome Break Sedgemoor, Weston-super-mare, Somerset (BS24 0JL) - 194.9pWelcome Break Fleet South, Fleet, Hampshire (GU51 1AA) - 194.9p Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
