Marcia Griffiths teams with Code Red, producer Sean Lewis Folkes for ‘When You Love Me’

Always keen to remain current, Marcia Griffiths collaborates with producer Sean Lewis Folkes and the Code Red Band for When You Love Me, her latest song. It was released on June 5 by Lewis Folkes’ LF label.Lewis Folkes, who has produced songs by Ed Robinson, Luciano and Pressure Busspipe, said it was easy working with the veteran singer.“Collaborating with Marcia is defined by professionalism and respect for reggae music traditions. She’s prepared yet intuitive, refining melodies to serve the message,” he told Observer Online. “Her calm focus in the studio ensures authenticity, grounding each project in cultural integrity and artistic purpose.”On When You Love Me, Griffiths is supported by Code Red, one of the top backing bands in South Florida.Griffiths’ career started in the early 1960s, and took off later that decade as a rocksteady act at Studio One. Unlike many of her contemporaries, she has stayed relevant by recording songs for producers with their fingers on the pulse.In the 1990s, Griffiths was embraced by a dancehall audience when she recorded for producer Donovan Germain’s Penthouse Records. I Shall Sing, Land of Love and Fire Burning were some of her hits for that label.At Studio One, where she was mentored by singer-songwriter Bob Andy, her hits included Feel Like Jumping, Mark my Word and Really Together (with Andy).In the 1970s, Griffiths toured the world as a member of The I Three, Bob Marley’s harmony trio.During that decade, she cut several classic hit singles including Dreamland and Stepping outa Babylon for producer Sonia Pottinger.
