Zohran Mamdani's Team of Anti-Zionist Socialists Just Won Big in NYC
Zohran Mamdani has strengthened his progressive movement in New York City, securing three wins for socialist and anti-Zionist congressional candidates in Tuesday’s primary races. Former New York City comptroller Brad Lander comfortably bested establishment Democrat Dan Goldman and is now all but certain to become the next representative in November in the 10th congressional district, covering lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. Meanwhile, state lawmaker and former union organiser Claire Valdez defeated Antonio Reynoso in the primary race for the seventh district, which covers parts of Brooklyn and Queens. And Darializa Avila Chevalier, a public defence investigator, achieved a huge upset by ousting five-term incumbent Adriano Espaillat in the 13th congressional district, which covers Upper Manhattan and parts of the Bronx. The wins give Mamdani’s allies a stronger foothold in the state’s congressional delegation. They are also a significant defeat for the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC, which has had a stranglehold on US politics for decades and pours millions into opposing candidates who criticise Israel’s genocide.

GOP Primary Voters Remain Deeply Supportive of Israel, Poll Finds
Anti-Israel radicals are ascendant in the Democratic party, but Republican primary voters remain deeply supportive of the Jewish state, a Washington Free Beacon poll found. The survey, conducted in early June found that likely Republican primary voters prefer a candidate who supports a strong U.S.-Israel relationship by a margin of 57 percentage points and who explicitly denounces antisemitism by a margin of 52 percentage points. By the same token, survey respondents also said they were less likely to support a candidate who describes Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a war criminal, who takes steps to economically isolate Israel, and who votes against congressional resolutions denouncing antisemitism – by margins of 25 points, 43 points, and 43 points respectively. MAGA Rep’s Spectacular Racism Self-Own Immediately Backfires
Tom Williams / Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty Images)A MAGA congressman’s attempt to defend himself from accusations of racism has spectacularly backfired. “The left has one debate tactic: call you a racist and pray you shut up. I never will,” Texas Rep. Brandon Gill posted on Thursday as a pull quote on X over a brooding profile shot of himself. “Calling us racist doesn’t work anymore,” he added in the caption. None of the irony of Gill’s Thursday post was lost in the comments section. Read more at The Daily Beast.
