This is why former presidents never “went to Tehran.” They knew this was the risk: For the Iranian regime, keeping a chokehold over the Strait of Hormuz has turned out to be more important than the tens of billions of dollars in sanctions relief from the Trump administration. That is because Tehran is playing a long game. Iranian officials believe the country has finally emerged as a regional hegemon, after the U.S. and Israel failed to achieve their main goals in the war they unleashed in February. And, as long as Tehran cements this new status by securing permanent arrangements to control the vital waterway—and dominating the Persian Gulf economies along with it—then the rest, including American sanctions relief, will eventually follow. “This is the only way: recognize the new Iranian order in the Strait of Hormuz,” warned Ebrahim Azizi, the head of the Iranian parliament’s national security commission. “The Strait of Hormuz will only open with ‘Iranian arrangements,’ not American threats,” added the parliament’s speaker and the lead negotiator with the U.S., Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. This attitude heralds a rocky future, with regular bouts of violence, continuing uncertainty for global energy markets and a Damoclean Sword of renewed strikes hanging over the Gulf monarchies. “The Islamic Republic will become even more of a gangster regime. Its takeaway from the war is that concessions are won through coercion—by attacking its neighbors, threatening the Strait of Hormuz and driving up the price of oil,” said Karim Sadjadpour, Iran expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. “Like Putin’s Russia, the

Bryce Harper Only Pawn In Game Of Exploitation

Bryce Harper has finally provided an answer to the question of how he ended up helping FanDuel convince a problem gambler to lose more money. You may not be surprised to learn that Harper got himself into this sticky situation partly due to an inability to assign meaning to words. Last week, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that a FanDuel bettor and gambling addict named Terry Thompson received a personalized video message from Harper that was sent to him by his FanDuel VIP manager, Bryttanni Morgan. The video featured Harper wishing Thompson and his family a happy Thanksgiving, and had the FanDuel logo superimposed on it. Harper released a statement on his Instagram account today saying that he did not record the video in direct partnership with FanDuel, but to fulfill an order made by Morgan through his Cameo account. Harper said that Morgan did not place her order through the business video requests submission form provided by Cameo, and so therefore he could not have known that FanDuel would use it as a branded video message for one of its customers. I did not know FanDuel would do this, I did not consent to it, and FanDuel had no right to do it, Harper said in his statement.

‘Keir Starmer was woefully inadequate as a Prime Minister, but will we miss him under Andy Burnham?’ - Nana Akua

Sir Keir Starmer had to go. He was weak. The one time he finally said something that resonated, he retracted it.Remember his “Island of Strangers” speech? He said: “Nations depend on rules Without them, we risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together.”Days later, he claimed to have not seen the speech he was reading and regretted the words. He promised change, but the only thing he changed was his mind. Remember the winter fuel allowance U-turn? digital IDs? I could go on. He was an embarrassment on the world stage. The one thing he was hailed by others as being good at.Now Sir Keir is giving Andy Burnham advice on how to handle it. In his first interview since announcing his resignation, he told his successor he would “have to” care about international affairs.Crikey. The day you take advice from him on that, you really are in trouble. So he resigned, leaving a parting gift of an almost £5 billion black hole in defence, and has left the country in a worse state than he found it in just two years. I mean, that's woefully inadequate as a Prime Minister. But will Burnham be worse? He couldn't take any questions when he was facing the press in his first big speech, choosing to cowardly answer questions on Reddit. The question is, could things be even worse under Andy Burnham? Will you miss Sir Keir Starmer?WATCH ABOVE Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter

LeBron James Believed To Have Current Favorite In Mind As Process Continues

While LeBron James is believed to have a favorite for which team he will sign with in free agency, he is still waiting to see if anything could change across the landscape of the league that would lead him to pivot to another situation. James' agent, Rich Paul, has continued to speak about the decision-making process on his podcast as the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves continue to wait for a resolution to the process. I think the league can always change, said Brian Windhorst to Yahoo Sports on Wednesday. Unlike previous free agencies, where there was a lot of money that had to be cleared in the salary cap and teams had to spend, sometimes, multiple years to open up spots for LeBron, he can join under the parameters he's set here, which is that he's willing to play for some kind of exception. He can join any team at any time. He can join a team in December. Because of that, there's no reason not to see how things develop and see if anything alters the decision. Just because you think one way on July 10th doesn't mean he'll feel that way on July 20th. The timeline is completely his. It's up to him. Because it's smaller money, there's no penalty for him to wait. I think this is what veterans looking for. You see this in the NFL with veteran players near the end of their careers who aren't playing for top dollar can do: sit, wait, and watch the market. He definitely has a favorite in his head, of course he would at this point, but there's no penalty for waiting, and it's also great content for Rich's podcast.

The Ultimate Loser

He’s still doing it. I know, I know. It’s useless to rail against their hypocrisy. It’s so fully part of their characters now, I honestly don’t think they even see it anymore. Their shamelessness is their defining feature. But seriously, Kevin, are you really this dim? That’s the famous picture of the man Trump called “My Kevin” crawling down to Mar-a-Lago after January 6th to welcome him back into the GOP fold. It sent the signal to the Republicans that all was forgiven and they could go back to the boot-licking they love so much. That wasn’t the first time, nor the last. He said Trump should apologize for the Access Hollywood tape and then quickly ran to his side to prove it wasn’t necessary. He backed him when all those women testified that he had sexually assaulted them and after Trump was found liable for raping e.Jean Carroll. He could not care less that Trump was best friends with Jeffrey Epstein for 15 years. And that’s not even counting the rest of the long list of GOP rapists, pedophiles and various other abusers and enablers that McCarthy has defended over the years, starting with Roy Moore, Pete Hegseth, Dennis Hastert, Jim Jordan, Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas and dozens more. Some Republicans paid a price but a lot of them didn’t because people like Kevin McCarthy gave them a pass. I know it’s spitting into the wind to even mention this but Jesus. The chutzpah.
