Kerala's MSME Technology Centre Project Moves Ahead With EPC Tender Finalisation Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 13 (KNN) The proposed MSME Technology Centre at Technocity, Pallippuram, has moved closer to implementation with the finalisation of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tender, marking a significant milestone for Kerala's advanced manufacturing and skill development infrastructure. Dianka Industries Emerges As Lowest Bidder According to the financial evaluation report issued by IRCON International Ltd on June 22, Dianka Industries Pvt Ltd emerged as the successful bidder, quoting Rs 73.52 crore, around 8.1 percent below the estimated project cost of Rs 80 crore. The award is subject to approval by the competent authority. The project is being implemented under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises' Establishment of New Technology Centres/Extension Centres scheme, with IRCON serving as the project execution agency. The EPC contract also includes maintenance of the facility for two years during the defect liability period, reported Times Of India. Centre To Boost Advanced Manufacturing Capabilities The technology centre will be established at Technocity Phase IV, the expansion campus of Technopark in Pallippuram. Once operational, it will provide facilities for advanced manufacturing, product design, prototyping, precision engineering, automation, robotics and industrial innovation. The centre will also offer technology support, testing and consultancy services, business advisory assistance for MSMEs, and industry-oriented skill development programmes for engineering graduates, diploma holders and ITI trainees. Part Of National MSME Technology Centre Initiative The project forms part of the Centre's nationwide initiative to establish 20 new Technology Centres and 100 Extension Centres with a total outlay of Rs 3,500 crore to strengthen MSME competitiveness through technology upgradation and skilled workforce development. Expected To Strengthen Kerala's Innovation Ecosystem Industry experts believe the Thiruvananthapuram facility will complement the growing high-technology ecosystem at Technocity, alongside projects such as the Kerala Space Park and Digital Science Park, while supporting sectors including aerospace, defence, electronics, medical devices and precision manufacturing. It is also expected to facilitate the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies by MSMEs in the region. (KNN Bureau)
