The Palestinian doctor has been held in Israeli custody for over 530 days and was last seen by Physicians for Human Rights Israel in an almost unrecognisable state, with severe injuries to his head and back. “He appeared extremely weak, struggled to sit upright without falling, and on several occasions seemed on the verge of losing consciousness,” the group wrote in a statement last week.
