IMO suspends Hormuz evacuation plan after vessel hit near Oman International Maritime Organisation Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez says the group has suspended its evacuation plan for vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. The plan, launched earlier this week, was paused after a vessel was hit near Oman's coastal waterways in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. I have been informed of an attack today in the Gulf of Oman on a vessel which passed through the Strait of Hormuz. This vessel did not transit under IMO's evacuation framework, Dominguez said in a statement. He said several vessels had already been successfully evacuated under the IMO plan, but that its implementation would now be temporarily paused. Dominguez said the pause was needed to reconfirm that the necessary safety guarantees continue to be in place for the ships on our evacuation list and all those in the region.
