Haaland beats his own drum as Norway get set for England epic | Paul MacInnes
Ståle Solbakken’s side have played with smiles on their faces – and none more so than the talismanic strikerErling Haaland saves his best content for Snapchat. Norway’s No 9, fresh off another decisive double to dispatch Brazil from the World Cup, posted clips overnight of what looked like a party on the team bus. Haaland was delirious, staggering around in the aisle, singing along to a largely forgotten summer tune by a French DJ called Kungs. “We are never going home,” runs the chorus.Norway will go home at some point, maybe even on Saturday when they play England in a World Cup quarter-final in Miami. But there can be no doubt that the country, the team, the supporters and their superstar have been making the most of their time in the US. From the longboat rowing ceremony, to the accumulation of cowboy gear (T-shirt: “Y’all can kiss my Dallas”), to Haaland’s performative taking-it-all-in pose – hands on hips, eyes raised to the horizon, bemused smile – they’ve been loving every minute of it. 'Sir, we love you': Trump goes off script with meandering self-praise at NATO conference
Amid reports that diplomats and world leaders are beside themselves over Donald Trump’s threats at the NATO conference in Turkey, the president attempted Wednesday to spin the meeting as a lovefest.Sound raspy and looking tired, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, looking over his shoulder, the president, as is his custom, departed from his prepared notes to claim that he is quite the popular guy with his counterparts.“They respect us as a country, Trump said. They didn't respect us two years ago. They laughed at us. NATO laughed at us, everybody laughed at us. They don't laugh anymore.” Trump then added an odd remark.“And they're, you know, just again, if you could have seen the respect and the love in the room and it's love really for the country, for our country, Trump said. I don't want to say me because you'll say, oh, he's so conceited. He's such a conceited person. But they do.”“I mean, you know, they, like the job I'm doing,” he continued. “They said, ‘We love, sir, we love you.’ These are grown people saying that. Isn't that nice?”“Maybe, I don't know, maybe they're trying to get to me. And, in a way they did, because there was tremendous unity in that room,” he asserted. - YouTube youtu.be

'Antifa In Costume': Famous Racist Denies Friendly Fascists
Laura Ingraham, who rose to prominence by being an out-and-proud racist, is suddenly flummoxed by the Patriot Front march in Washington, DC on July 4th. In the video she quotes, one unmasked person tells her he doesn't like Kash Patel because he is Indian. When the videographer points out that Patel was born in this country, the Patriot Front person apparently speaking for the group says no, Patel is Indian. When asked what he is, the white fascist boy says he was born American. Yes, this is how stupid and hateful they are. Ingraham has the weirdest response. I call fake. Looks more like Antifa in costume. No one should be allowed to cover their faces pic.twitter.com/2NoBWHpkKT — Laura Ingraham (@IngrahamAngle) July 4, 2026 Huh. I've been wondering all day how many of those clowns were ICE agents. But I agree 100 with part of what she said. ICE agents should not be allowed to be masked and neither should these cowards. Ivory Coast coach accuses Germany of 'lack of fair play'
Ivory Coast coach EmerseFaé has said Germany lacked fair play in their World Cup match on Saturday, reported dpa. We look to such nations as examples to help us improve, and I was a little disappointed by the lack of fair play shown by this German team, Faé told the post match news conference. Germany won 2-1 from a stoppage time goal by Deniz Undav but Faé was mainly incensed about an 80th minute incident when Wilfried Singo went down injured. “You would have expected a bit more fair play from a great nation like Germany when Singo kicked the ball out of play because of an injury,” Faé said. Singo held his thigh after a duel with Kai Havertz and kicked the ball out of bounds. He then went down in such a way that he was back on the pitch which led to an interruption. This move made the Germans furious because it denied them a quick throw in as tempers flared. Faé meanwhile said that we would have liked them to pass the ball back to us. Faé also said he had a war of words with German full-back Nathaniel Brown. “I simply told him to stay humble. Its true, he played a brilliant game; hes part of a very, very strong national team. But I dont think he needs to speak ill of us just because his team are behind, or because the score is 1–1 and hed like to win,” Faé said.

Mbappé slams ‘brazen racism’ from Paraguay senator following World Cup match
French striker Kylian Mbappé has issued a blistering response to reported racist comments attributed to a Paraguayan senator in online reports.“Madame Celeste Amarilla, you are a despicable woman and unworthy of your position. You do not represent Paraguay, that country which has sweated passion and honour throughout the competition,” Mbappé shared on X on Monday. The comments followed online reports of racist statements about Mbappé shared by an X account attributed to Amarilla (@CelesteSenadora).One post on the account read: “Bruto didn't even learn to write; instead of mother's milk, he sucked on coconuts, and the most educated thing he heard were chimpanzees.”The comments were shared on Saturday following France’s 1-0 win over Paraguay in their World Cup Round of 16 match.Other posts on the page read: “Colonised Cameroonian, pretending hard to be French, resentful, newly rich, arrogant, and ugly. He was nervous and scared to death the whole match, like his entire team; they couldn't even score a goal, they won by a fluke.”Mbappé was born in Paris, France, to a father of Cameroonian heritage. The footballer, in his response, chided the senator for the comments, which he said have now overshadowed Paraguay’s World Cup journey.“Through your recklessness and your brazen racism, the entire world has already forgotten the journey and the historic effort that your players accomplished during this World Cup, making way for an incompetent woman who gives the worst possible image of her country,” he said.“I will never allow people like her the freedom to spread their hatred and racism across the world,” Mbappé concluded.

FIFA Makes Good And Right And Not At All Corrupt Decision To Rescind Folarin Balogun’s Red Card Suspension
The USMNT was the talk of the soccer world in the aftermath of its triumph over Bosnia and Herzegovina last Wednesday. Most of the conversation was about the latest amazing U.S. performance in a tournament full of them, and the growing consensus that the Americans should be considered overwhelming favorites to go ahead and win the World Cup. However, a sizable portion of the discussion also centered on the referee's scandalous decision to show U.S. striker Folarin Balogun a totally unfair red card for an accidental challenge. The brave Americans were prepared to suffer this miscarriage of justice in dignified silence, and to face Belgium without Balogun. Thankfully, FIFA, an organization known for its commitment to fairness and ethics, stepped in on Sunday and suspended Balogun's one-game suspension. To a small, blinkered minority, FIFA's action smacks of favoritism and corruption. What they hell! you might hear one such person say, in a suspiciously French-ish or Dutch-ish accent. They can't do that! The guy got a red card, he has to pay the price! Ah, but surely this person will admit—or would admit, if they weren't blinded by impotent rage over the Americans' impending ticker-tape parade—that the initial call on the field was completely fraudulent, both on the merits and procedurally. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuaS3jUAark

Singer Behind Trump Anthem Dies at 74
Anna Moneymaker / Getty ImagesVictor Willis, the founding lead singer and co-writer of Village People’s biggest hits, including “Y.M.C.A.,” “Macho Man,” and “In The Navy,” has died at 74 following a short illness. “We are profoundly sad to announce the death of Victor Willis, lead singer of Village People,” the band wrote on Facebook. “Victor passed on Monday June 30, 2026 of a short but aggressive illness. Privacy is requested.” His wife, lawyer and entertainment executive Karen Huff-Willis, also shared the news, writing, “It is with profound sadness that I must announce the death of my husband, Victor Willis.” Willis had a complicated relationship with the song that became President Trump’s unofficial anthem. In 2020, he demanded that Trump stop playing “Y.M.C.A.” at rallies. “I don’t endorse Trump,” he told the BBC that year—though he said he didn’t mind who listened to his music. By January 2025, Willis and the band performed at Trump’s inauguration victory rally in Washington, where Trump danced alongside them. The band later distanced itself, with a spokesperson telling the Daily Beast in May that “Village People are not MAGA as the group does not support President Trump’s policies in any respect.” Read it at FacebookRead more at The Daily Beast.
