Hannah Collings-Myers is Miss Universe Jamaica Kingston & St Andrew

Hannah Collings-Myers, a 20 year old student at the University of the West Indies, was on Saturday night crowned the first ever Miss Universe Jamaica Kingston St Andrew.Collings-Myers and her runners-up, 2nd place Tiyana Mowatt, a medical doctor and Shaniece Douglas (third place) have now automatically advanced to the finals of the national Miss Universe Jamaica beauty and wellness pageant, scheduled for August.Collings-Myers, who is originally from Mandeville but later relocated to Montego Bay, is a former student of the Immaculate Conception High School in Kingston.I'm excited to take on the journey that's ahead of me. I enjoyed working with all these girls and I'm sorry to see it come to an end, Collings-Myers told Observer Online shortly after the coronation took place at the Douglas Orane Auditorium at Wolmer's Boys' high school.Twenty-one ladies competed for the crown.Franchise Manager for the Miss Universe Jamaica Kingston St Andrew pageant, Jermane Blair, who encouraged Collings-Myers to enter the pageant two years ago, when it was known as Miss Universe Jamaica East, said a lot of work went into Saturday night's presentation.A lot of work went into this production. We were trying to ensure that the young ladies that entered the competition, would have been amazing. We also wanted to ensure that our patrons were appreciative of the show, and how we put it together. Without the team, this would not have been possible, said Blair.He cited the crowning moment as a major highlight.For the first time, I had no expectations. Our ladies have been so well develped and prepared for tonight, so that they could show up and make me proud, Blair disclosed.
