‘Give me a Hemsworth’: Hollywood age bias claims mocked as ‘narrow ideology’

Broadcaster Dee Dee Dunleavy dismisses claims older women are being ignored by Hollywood, arguing audiences would still rather watch other demographics on screen. A new analysis of the top-grossing UK films from the past three years has unveiled that films are more likely to star actors named Chris or feature a talking animal in the lead role than feature a woman over the age of 60. “It’s a very narrow, idealistic view,” Ms Dunleavy told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “It doesn’t necessarily follow that those women want to see old women on the screen. “I’m 64 if you give me a choice of Dame Judi Dench in a movie and a Hemsworth, I think I would rather look at a Hemsworth.”
