Fox News poll spells trouble for big-name Republicans in Ohio

A new Fox News poll of topline races in Ohio has alarming signs for Republicans.According to the poll, By a 15-point margin, Ohioans view Trump negatively: 42 hold a favorable opinion and 57 an unfavorable one. That’s more than a 20-point swing compared to his +6 net positive rating (52-46) in the November 2024 Ohio Fox News Voter Analysis election survey.More troubling are the survey results for the marquee contests this fall: former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown is leading Republican Sen. Jon Husted by 53-45, one of his best performances in any recent poll, while Democratic public health official Dr. Amy Acton narrowly leads Republican businessman Vivek Ramaswamy 50-49.Historically, Ohio has favored Republicans throughout most of its existence as a state; Democrats have not carried it in a presidential contest since former President Barack Obama won it twice, haven't won a gubernatorial election since 2006, and are nearly a decade out from the last time they won a Senate race.Brown is looking to reclaim a seat after losing his 2024 re-election bid.Of all the issue polling, the survey found that by far the leading concern for voters was inflation and high prices, with 43 percent of voters calling it their most important issue. Trump has come under increasing anger from voters after his tariffs, and more recently, the war in Iran, put upward pressure on prices.
