Diaspora support for ‘Elegance’

The inaugural Elegance: The Ballroom Experience is attracting strong international support, with members of the Jamaican Diaspora travelling from across North America and Europe to attend the highly-anticipated event on July 19 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel Ballroom.Promoter Isaiah Laing said the overwhelming overseas response has reaffirmed that the concept is resonating with patrons both at home and abroad.Seeing members of the diaspora coming in for this event gives me a soothing feeling because it tells me that when I flip the coin, it's the same result. I always go overboard to give people what they want, and this type of event was long in coming. People will leave satisfied and wanting to know when the next one will be, Laing told the Observer Online.Patrons are reportedly flying in from Vancouver, Toronto, Connecticut, New York, Florida, and London, among other locations, with many choosing to stay at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, which is offering special accommodation rates of US180 plus taxes for a single room and US200 plus taxes for a double room for event attendees.Laing noted that excitement surrounding the event extends beyond the music and entertainment.There is a large buzz about the dress code. People are even asking for uniformed escorts through the door, he said.He also revealed that ticket sales continue to be strong despite the ballroom's limited capacity.Tickets are doing fine. Only a limited number of people can be accommodated in the ballroom because the décor inside will surpass anything before. Trust me on this, I have seen it, and it's really a wow factor, he added.Among the overseas patrons travelling to Jamaica is a guest from London who hopes to capture the US1,000 Best Dressed Couple prize.Attending the Elegance Ballroom Experience is an opportunity that holds both personal and social significance for me, she said.
