Caution issued for fishers as strong winds and rough seas expected into weekend

KINGSTON, Jamaica— Strong, potentially gale-force winds and rough seas are forecast to affect Jamaica on Friday and Saturday, caused by a low-level jet stream across the Caribbean Sea.The stream has been producing windy conditions across Jamaica since early this week, and is expected to persist through Saturday as it moves closer late this week, bringing very strong and possibly gale-force winds to Jamaica. The most severe impacts are expected across southern parishes and southern marine areas, including Pedro and Morant Banks.Fishers and other marine interests, especially those operating inshore and offshore the south coast, are advised to exercise extreme caution, as sea conditions are expected to further deteriorate due to these strong to very strong winds. The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.
