Caribbean Week opens in New York on June 1

NEW YORK, United States (CMC) — Governor of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), Albert Bryan Jr, will be part of a high-level Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) delegation that will attend Caribbean Week which gets underway in New York on June 1.The other members of the delegation include British Virgin Islands Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley and Barbados’ Minister of Tourism and International Transport Ian Gooding-Edghill, who is also the CTO chairman.The Barbados-based CTO said that the Caribbean Week event returns to New York, coinciding with the beginning of Caribbean American Heritage Month.It said that this year’s gathering is being under the theme “One Caribbean: Infinite Experiences”.“Caribbean Week in New York is a critical platform for collaboration, strategy development and celebration of our region’s tourism industry,” said CTO Secretary-General Dona Regis-Prosper.“We are delighted to welcome Governor Bryan, Premier Wheatley, Minister Gooding-Edghill and senior tourism leaders from across the Caribbean as we highlight the strength, resilience and infinite potential of our destinations.”Bryan, the ninth elected USVI governor will address the opening ceremony while Gooding-Edghill will deliver the keynote address. Premier Wheatley will participate in the session titled “Around the Caribbean in 60 Minutes”.The CTO said that Caribbean Week features strategic discussions on tourism leadership, marketing strategies, airlift development, inclusive tourism, sustainability and the next generation of Caribbean tourism innovation.
