Russia strikes Kyiv for second time in a week, killing more than 10 and wounding dozens. See the aftermath.

Russian forces struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones in the early hours of July 6. According to data from the Ukrainian Air Force command, a total of 68 missiles of various types and more than 350 drones (including decoy drones) were launched against Ukraine. Kyiv was the primary target. Air defense systems protecting the Ukrainian capital were unable to intercept any of the 23 ballistic missiles or six “Zircon” missiles. A Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson said that Ukrainian forces lack sufficient missiles for Patriot air defense systems. According to the latest figures, 11 people were killed and 46 were wounded in Kyiv as a result of the Russian strike, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. Buildings in four districts of the city were damaged, with the most severe destruction in the Podilskyi district. Ukrainian authorities cautioned that the casualty figures are not final, as rescue operations at the sites of destroyed buildings are ongoing. July 7 has been declared a day of mourning in Kyiv. Meduza shares photographs of the aftermath of the Russian strike on Kyiv.
