Rail services across Germany suspended following glitch

All rail services in Germany were suspended on Tuesday evening following a disruption to train radio communications, reported Xinhua, quoting German newspaper Tagesspiegel. Due to a nationwide disruption of the GSM-R digital rail radio system, all trains are currently being held at stations, German rail operator Deutsche Bahn was quoted by the newspaper as saying. Our technicians are working diligently to resolve the issue, Deutsche Bahn added. Dozens of passengers were stranded at Berlin's Westkreuz S-Bahn station, FOCUS Online reported. A railway employee told passengers that the disruption could take five or six hours, according to a FOCUS Online reporter at the scene. According to Tagesspiegel, the entire Berlin S-Bahn network was also affected, with services suspended on all S-Bahn lines. Passengers were advised to use services operated by BVG, Berlin's public transport operator.
