Jamaica set a world record 39.00 seconds in the mixed 4x100m relay on Saturday’s opening day of the Debswana World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana.The team of Ackeem Blake, Tina Clayton, Kadrian Goldson and Tia Clayton dominated their heat and broke the previous record 40.07 seconds, set by Canada in the first heat, to lead all qualifiers for Sunday’s final.It means Jamaica also booked their places in the World Athletics Ultimate Championship to be held in Budapest, Hungary in September and the World Athletics Championships Beijing in 2027.Great Britain were second to Jamaica in 40.72 seconds and also advanced to the final with Australia third in 40.78 seconds.-Paul A Reid
