WHO worker among seven killed by Israel in Gaza bombing

According to local media, a house in the Bureij refugee camp, located in central Gaza, was targeted on Sunday, killing four people and wounding several others. The attack came hours after an air strike struck security personnel east of Gaza City, killing and wounding a number of people. In a separate aerial strike, a Palestinian was killed near the Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City. An Israeli drone also targeted a group of Palestinians in the Shujaiyya neighbourhood east of Gaza City, killing one person and wounding others. In southern Gaza, Israeli forces shot dead a young man with special needs near the Ard al-Laymoun area in Khan Younis, local media reported. Early on Monday, the Israeli army targeted a UN vehicle carrying WHO staff and a commercial bus on Salah al-Din Street in southern Gaza. Majdi Aslan, a 54-year-old driver of the UN vehicle, was pronounced dead following the attack, according to Arab48 news outlet. Another staff member was wounded. Following Aslan’s killing, Israeli forces reportedly prevented a new group of patients from leaving or entering the territory. Despite a ceasefire declared in October, Israel has continued its assaults across the besieged Strip, violating key provisions of the truce. During this period, Israeli forces killed more than 720 people and wounded nearly 2,000 others. Israel has repeatedly breached the ceasefire by targeting civilians, restricting humanitarian aid, and limiting movement through the Rafah crossing. Israeli forces have killed more than 72,300 Palestinians since the start of the genocide in Gaza in October 2023, according to the Palestinian minsitry of health.
