UP Introduces AI Training For Class IX–XII Students Under Project Praveen Lucknow, Apr 7 (KNN) The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) training for students of Classes IX to XII under its flagship ‘Project Praveen’, aiming to strengthen digital skills and future readiness among youth. Over 2 Lakh Students to Benefit The initiative will cover over 2 lakh students across 1,200 government secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh, integrating AI into vocational training programmes.

As part of the rollout, a four-hour foundational course titled ‘AI For All’ has been made mandatory for both students and trainers. The AI module is designed to enhance problem-solving and creative thinking, build digital literacy and data analysis skills and provide practical exposure to AI applications, reported The Economic Times. According to Pulkit Khare, Director, UPSDM, the programme will help students apply AI in real-world job roles such as, IT customer care executive, self-employed tailoring, healthcare services, digital services (Digital Mitra) and small-scale manufacturing like soap making. “Practical AI knowledge will enable students to work smarter and more efficiently in their respective trades,” he said. Ahead of the 2026–27 academic session, all instructors have been directed to complete training under the ‘AI For All’ course. Additionally, trainers handling the five key job roles will undergo advanced, subject-specific AI training. Project Praveen: A Broader Skill Development Push ‘Project Praveen’ is a 210-hour free vocational training programme for government school students, covering sectors such as information technology, beauty wellness, healthcare and electronics. The inclusion of AI marks a significant upgrade, aligning the programme with emerging technological demands. Key Takeaway The move reflects a growing push to mainstream AI education at the school level, equipping students with future-ready skills and improving employability in both traditional and modern sectors.
