Two suspects wanted in the US for fraud held in pre-dawn St James operation

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A coordinated pre-dawn operation by the Anti-Lottery Scamming Unit (ALSU), Jamaica Fugitive Apprehension Team and members of the St James Operational Support Team, resulted in the apprehension of two individuals who are wanted by the United States (US).They have been identified as 31-year-old Nicki Gibbs, a nurse technician of Bronx, New York in the United States and her husband, Swayne Barker, otherwise called ‘Black Boss’, of Red Dirt, Flanker in St James.Reports are that between 4:00 am and 5:47 am, both suspects were apprehended during an operation in Red Dirt in the parish.They are wanted in the United States for fraud-related charges.

They were taken into custody by members of the ALSU and will remain in custody pending an extradition hearing.Head of the Fraud Squad and Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FSFCID) Deputy Superintendent of Police Horace Forbes said the JCF continues to work with international bodies to apprehend fugitives.“These arrests are the culmination of ongoing collaboration between the Jamaica Constabulary Force and its international partners to track and apprehend fugitives seeking refuge within Jamaican borders. Jamaica will never be a sanctuary for criminal activities,” said DSP Forbes.Investigations continue.
