In an address to the nation, President Donald Trump claimed the sharp increase in gas prices would be "short term: and that the Strait of Hormuz would "automatically" reopen once the Iran war ends, which Trump suggested would be soon after saying the US was close to achieving it's objectives with strikes on Iran. "Gas prices will rapidly come back down.
