Trump demands Israel and Iran to stop ‘shooting immediately’

US President Donald Trump has called on Israel and Iran to halt attacks immediately following the worst escalation of hostilities since a fragile ceasefire took effect in April. Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it targeted two Israeli air bases and a petrochemical plant in Haifa with three rounds of missile strikes, while the Israeli military reported nearly 30 ballistic missiles fired from Iran. Tensions rose after Israel struck the southern suburb of Beirut on Sunday. Iran accused Israel of repeatedly violating ceasefire agreements and said the US is also responsible, claiming CENTCOM is taking part in the strikes. Israel carried out large-scale strikes on Iran's strategic defence systems, with explosions heard in Tehran, Tabriz and Isfahan, as well as a hit on a petrochemical complex in Mahshahr. Israeli officials began transferring patients to an underground medical facility in Haifa, and the military said it is prepared for operations ranging from several days to "as long as it takes." Meanwhile, Yemen's Houthis launched a ballistic missile at Israel — the first since April — and declared a complete ban on Israeli maritime navigation in the Red Sea, threatening further attacks. Trump posted on his Truth Social platform: "Israel and Iran must immediately stop shooting." US officials had reportedly urged restraint, but Israel defied that call.
