The Portal: Bigs April 13th, 2026 at 10:07 AM Matt EM April 13th, 2026 at 10:07 AM [Marc-Gregor Campredon] With Yaxel Lendeborg out of eligibility, Aday Mara likely heading to the NBA and Morez Johnson's return up in the air, quality bigs are unquestionably the biggest roster need for the Wolverines. Dusty May took a step in the right direction with the addition of Tennessee transfer JP Estrella last week, but at least one more big is needed, with rim protection being of particular importance.

With reported mutual interest being a bit scant with 1 target Flory Bidunga off the board to Louisville, we'll survey the big man landscape to see what's available.Magoon Gwath Raw Stats: 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 51.9 FG, 43.5 from three, 60.6 FTShort Eval Pros: Legit 7-footer with tantalizing combination of rim protection/perimeter shotmaking/ceiling. Likely the best available rim protector in the portal, with 96th percentile rim protection and a 10.9 block rate. Opponents are shooting 8.4 worse at the rim with Gath on the floor (massive swing). Magoon isn't Aday Mara as a rim protector, but he's the closest thing to it left on the board. Legitimate stretch big that went for 1.28ppp on Pick and Pop attempts. This is a legitimate NBA prospect with an extremely high ceiling. Short Eval Cons: Injuries have plagued Gath in his two years at SDSU, so health is a question mark. Poor finisher given the size/length at just 63.5 at the rim. Defensive rebounding leaves a bit to be desired, should be better than 15.5 Dreb rate given the size/competition level. Not really a viable back-to-the-basket scorer at .76ppp on post-ups. A bit too perimeter oriented on the offensive end, needs to embrace physicality and traditional big man facets with more consistency.Robert Miller Raw Stats: 6.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 0,9 steals, 65.7 FG, 69.9 FTShort Eval Pros: Would likely be near the top of the board for me not accounting for mutual interest and other thing. Superb rim protector with 7.9 block rate overall that remains stable at 7.6 against top-50 opponents. 2.7 steal rate against top-50 competition. Really disruptive defender that creates havoc with stocks. Strong finisher at 71.6 at the rim with seemingly good touch at 47.8 on other 2s. Explosive athlete that gets off the ground quick with a big catch radius because of the vertical leaping ability and reported 7'4 wingspan. Outstanding at drawing FTs with a 69.5 FT rate and 62.9 against top-50 competition. Good ballskills with the ability to put the ball on the floor and face-up from the perimeter/elbows. Young for class........still only 19 years old. Struggling to understand why he didn't feature more at LSU.Short Eval Cons: Sub-par defensive rebounder at 14.6 Dreb rate that falls to 11.4 against top-50 opponents. High TO rate (22.5) given low usage 14. And that's about it.Moustapha Thiam Raw Stats: 12.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, 52.5 FG, 28.8 from three, 63.3 FTShort Eval Pros: Behemoth at 7'2 and 250 pounds. Good rim protector with a 6.8 block rate (though it falls to 4.1 against top-50 opponents) and 98th percentile rim protection. Opponents shoot 7.9 worse at the rim with Thiam on the floor. Extremely good short midrange shooter at 55.2 on short mid attempts. Good rebounder with 20.4 Dreb rate. Viable back-to-basket option at .90ppp on post-ups. High-floor option that will provide solid production on both ends. Short Eval Cons: Drop-off in production against elevated competition as noted above with the block rate. Solid, but not overwhelming finisher at 67 at the rim. Really lacks in drawing FTs, with a 32.1 FT rate and that falls to 24.4 against top-50 opponents. [After THE JUMP: The Full Rundown]Aiden Sherrell Raw Stats: 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 53.9 FG, 33.8 from three, 71.3 FTShort Eval Pros: Surest bet to be an impact starter for Michigan in the B10. 8.5 block rate (7.3 against top-50 is relatively stable) isn't Aday Mara levels of rim protection, but it is a tier above Morez and fits the biggest need for the Wolverines. Above-average perimeter shooter for the position at nearly 34 on 2.4 attempts per contest. 67 at the rim this season, which isn't necessarily world-beating, but certainly solid given he's not a behemoth at 6'10. Good offensive rebounder with a 10.4 Oreb rate. Draws FTs at a good clip (53.5 FT rate), which is ideal given the FT is good for a college big.Short Eval Cons: Not necessarily a great defensive rebounder with a 15.2 Dreb rate. Probably not equipped to defend true behemoths at 6'10. But no glaring cons to be candid. Najai Hines Raw Stats: 6.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 60.2 FG, 69 FTShort Eval Pros: Good rim protector with an impressive 16.3 block rate (11.8 against top-50 opponents). Opponents shoot 4.4 worst at the rim with Hines on the court and checks in at 74th percentile rim protection. Elite offensive rebounder with a 15.5 Oreb against top-50 opponents and 15.3 overall. Above-average back-to-basket scorer at .96ppp. Elite motor and physicality. Becoming a really enticing option despite the lack of buzz (in relation to other big names), particularly considering he's only a freshman. Short Eval Cons: Probably a bit undersized at 6'9ish. The lack of size comes through with the finishing, as 62.9 at the rim is sub-par for a big when 66 of the makes are assisted. The block rate is eye-popping, but Hines is only 45th percentile in terms of rim deterrence. Which essentially means opponents are still going at him. The Dreb rate goes from 22.3 in conference games down to 13.2 against top-50 opponents. In short, will the lack of positional size mitigate his impact at the B10 level? Eric Reibe Raw Stats: 5.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.7 blocks, 65.8 FG, 52.1 FTShort Eval Pros: Upside. A freshman at a premier program with great positional size at 7'1 is what Dusty May would be banking on here. 6.1 block rate and 17.8 Dreb rates are good, particularly for a freshman. Really good finisher at 72.9 at the rim and 47.4 on short mid shots (19 attempts) suggests there is some touch on floaters. At 1.34ppp on cut + roll possessions in tandem with the finishing numbers, Reibe has the look of an elite roll-man. Outstanding offensive rebounder with a 10.1 Oreb rate that is relatively stable at 8.9 against top-50 opponents.Short Eval Cons: Some questions surrounding the rim protection, as the rim deterrence is 55th percentile and the overall rim protection is 26th percentile. Does not draw FTs well for a big at just 30.4 for the season and 18.2 against top-50 opponents. Have to weigh the cons against the general struggles of being a freshman and the projected upside/development. Mouhamed Sylla Raw Stats: 9.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, 0,8 steals, 57.9 FG, 42.9 FTShort Eval Pros: Good rim protector with a 6.4 block rate that rises to 7.2 against top-50 opponents. 81st percentile rim deterrence grade and opponents shoot 2.9 worse at the rim with Sylla on the court. Absolutely elite offensive rebounder at 10.4 Oreb rate for the season that elevates to 14.4 against top-50 opponents. Good defensive rebounder with 17.2 Dreb rate against top-50 opponents and 19.9 against top-100 competition.Short Eval Cons: Old for his class, already 21 years old based on reports. Sub-par finisher for a big given his athletic profile/age at 64.3 at the rim. Awful FT shooter. Is he maxed out given age? Sananda Fru Raw Stats: 9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 75.3 FG, 61.1 FTShort Eval Pros: Good rim protector with 7.2 block rate overall and 7.3 against top-50 opponents. 76th percentile rim deterrence. World-beating finisher at a whopping 78.1 on good volume at 151 total attempts. Great roll-man efficiency at 1.30ppp on cut + roll possessions. Just incredible finishing. Great offensive rebounder at 14.9 Oreb rate overall and 12.8 against top-50 opponents. Outstanding ballskills for a big, has the ability to put the ball on the floor in traffic. Outstanding at drawing FTs with a 52.9 FT rate for the season that elevates to 61.4 against top-50 competition. Likely the most naturally talented/gifted offensive player on this list. Short Eval Cons: Extremely old for class, will be 23 years old in August despite being a sophomore. How legit are the block rate numbers? Opponents shoot 1.7 worse at the rim with Fru on the court, which isn't necessarily superb and the overall rim protection is 30th percentile (admittedly a bit hard to reconcile given the block rate + rim deterrence). Questions about the defensive rebounding at just 14 Dreb rate against top-50 opponents. 25.9 TO rate against top-50 opponents suggests he tries to do too much when the competition gets tougher. Outside of that it feels weirdly silent? Like does Dusty have something up his sleeve because it feels like outside of Estrella, Bidunga, and Harris, there has been very little chatter or reported contact Joined: 07/20/2017 MGoPoints: 88186 Dusty May jp estrella magoon gwath moustapha thiam aiden sherrell robert miller sananda fru mouhamed sylla
