Taylor Swift concert attack suspect convicted over Vienna terror plot

A court in the Austrian city of Wiener Neustadt has found a 21-year-old man guilty of conspiring to carry out an attack at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna nearly two years ago.The defendant, identified only as Beran A. under Austrian privacy regulations, is an Austrian national who faced multiple charges linked to the foiled plot, according to the Austria Press Agency.His lawyer confirmed that Beran A. admitted involvement in the conspiracy when the trial began last month.Before judges retired to deliberate on Thursday, the defendant offered brief remarks to the court: I would just like to say that I am sorry.Prosecutors alleged that Beran A. planned to attack concertgoers outside the Ernst Happel Stadium using knives or improvised explosive devices.The scheme was uncovered before it could be carried out, prompting Austrian authorities to cancel all three of Ms Taylor Swift's scheduled performances in August 2024 as a precaution.More to follow...
