The investment amounts to around 8.7 billion Swedish kronor (about 957 million U.S. dollars), with deliveries scheduled for 2027 and 2028. It is more important than ever to invest in air defense capabilities, Jonson said. According to Swedish media reports, the Gute II system will use 30-mm and 40-mm cannons deployed on both stationary and mobile platforms. The system integrates components from several defense manufacturers. Jonson said the system will be used to protect military formations as well as key infrastructure, including nuclear power plants, transport hubs and cities. In addition, he underscored the system's mobility, saying it can be rapidly redeployed over longer distances in response to changing threats, and a key feature of Gute II is its modular and adaptable design, which enables it to address a range of aerial threats.
