“Today (Sunday) I met His Majesty King Abdullah II. The visit will further strengthen bilateral relations between Finland and Jordan. I thanked His Majesty for his efforts to stabilise the situation in the Middle East,” Stubb wrote in a post on his social media platform X. Remarking on the similarity of the security challenges faced by both Finland and Jordan in their respective regions, Stubb highlighted the two countries shared pursuit of stability through solutions-oriented peace mediation. News agency Xinhua adds: Addressing regional stability, the king of Jordan stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire between the United States and Iran to end the war, urging follow-up diplomatic measures to reduce tensions. On the situation in Lebanon, the king stated that the ceasefire must put an end to Israel's aggression, reiterating Jordan's support for Lebanon's sovereignty. The king issued a call to the international community to stop Israel's attempts to exploit regional conditions to impose new facts on the ground in Jerusalem, Gaza, and the West Bank. He warned that such actions undermine peace prospects and threaten to plunge the region into perpetual conflict. He noted that the two nations have maintained steady relations for over 60 years. He characterized the president's visit as a strategic opportunity to explore new cooperation in education and technology. Stubb started a two-day official visit to Jordan on Sunday. On Monday, the programme includes meetings with Prime Minister of Jordan Jafar Hassan, President of the Senate of Jordan Faisal al-Fayez and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Jordan Mazen al-Qadi.
