Dubai: The UAE’s next public holiday is expected to be the longest break of the year, with Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha holidays likely to fall at the end of May.Under UAE Cabinet Resolution No. (27) of 2024 concerning public holidays, residents receive a one-day holiday for Arafat Day, followed by a three-day holiday for Eid Al Adha.When are the holidays expected?Arafat Day is marked on the 9 of Dhul Hijjah, and Eid Al Adha holidays are from 10-12 of Dhul Hijjah.So, the dates of the holiday will depend on when the month of Dhul Hijjah begins, which will only be announced once the crescent for start of the month is sighted by the UAE’s moon sighting committee.However, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, has said that the month is expected to begin on Monday, May 18, 2026, based on astronomical calculations.If that coincides, the holiday calendar would be:Arafat Day (9th Day of Dhul Hijjah): Tuesday, May 26, 2026Eid Al Adha holidays (10-12 Dhul Hijjah): Wednesday, May 27 to Friday, May 29, 2026That means, you can expect the holidays to start on a Tuesday and extend all the way to Friday.
