An Iranian cluster munition shattered 19 hours of relative silence, striking nearly a dozen sites in central Israel at 7am local time, with several people injured in Bnei Brak east of Tel Aviv and major damage to homes and buildings. Further attacks continued on Wednesday morning, with sirens blasting across nearly all of Israel as Hezbollah launched 50 rockets and drones into northern Israel and Yemen's Houthi group fired a missile into the south.
Israeli sources expect Iran and Hezbollah to increase pressure on the ground as Tuesday marked the eve of the Jewish holiday of Passover. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech hailing the success of the Iran war, claiming Israel had "broken the power of Iran's terror squads", though critics noted his promise to dismantle the regime remains unfulfilled. Netanyahu's speech is seen by many as a political move to secure his coalition government's survival until the end of its term later this year, though continued Israeli casualties in southern Lebanon could complicate selling the war as a victory.
