Intermittent rain across Gilgit-Baltistan has triggered landslides, flooding and temporary road closures, while the Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning about the risk of glacial lake outburst floods, or Glofs, in the country’s northern regions. According to officials, scattered rain was recorded across Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday and Saturday, leading to disruptions on major roads, including the Karakoram Highway and the Astore valley road.
In Hunza’s Murtazabad area, rain-induced flooding temporarily blocked the Karakoram Highway. Authorities later restored traffic after debris clearance operations were completed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dawn News English is your window into the latest news, insight, and features from South Asia and beyond.
