OPEC+ announces symbolic oil output rise during Strait of Hormuz closure

Top OPEC+ producer Saudi Arabia’s quota will rise to 10.291 million barrels per day (bpd) in June under the ⁠⁠agreement, far above actual production. The kingdom reported actual production of 7.76 million bpd to OPEC ⁠⁠in March. OPEC+ has 21 members, including Iran. But in recent years, only the seven nations plus the UAE have been involved in monthly production decisions. The UAE, one of the world’s top producers, announced on Tuesday that it would withdraw from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and the expanded OPEC+ group after chafing at their production quotas. Neither group has reacted publicly so far, making the lack of any mention of the UAE in Sunday’s statement notable.
