MSME Ministry Trains 2,500 Artisans in AI Under PM Vishwakarma Scheme New Delhi, Apr 20 (KNN) The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has trained over 2,500 traditional artisans under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in the use of artificial intelligence tools to enhance productivity, market access and business capabilities. The programme aligns with the government’s “AI for Social Good” vision and represents a significant step towards integrating grassroots artisans into India’s emerging digital economy.
The training was conducted through hands-on sessions tailored to local contexts, enabling artisans to understand and apply AI tools in practical scenarios. Participants were introduced to platforms such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Indus, focusing on real-world applications in business and design. The curriculum covered key areas including branding, product design, packaging, digital marketing, customer engagement and the use of AI for generating product descriptions and visual content. The objective was to improve business efficiency and expand market reach for traditional craftspeople. The initiative saw participation from multiple states, with the highest representation from Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Bihar, taking the total number of beneficiaries to 2,543. By embedding AI capabilities within traditional sectors, the Ministry aims to bridge the digital divide, enhance value addition, and improve global competitiveness of Indian artisans. The initiative also seeks to support sustainable and inclusive growth by enabling access to new markets and strengthening livelihoods in the informal sector. (KNN Bureau)
