Moira Deeming left as sole candidate after all rivals disqualified

Moira Deeming is expected to contest November's Victoria election after the preselection pool for her electorate was diminished to just herself. She has emerged as the only candidate after her main competition, Bobby Lakra, was deemed ineligible due to an incomplete application. He was the second candidate to be eliminated, after Dinesh Gourisetty was also ruled ineligible due to the revelation he had written a character reference for a child sex offender.
