Medical research centre in Tehran attacked, says Iran's Health Ministry Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour has said that the Pasteur Institute of Iran, “a century-old pillar of global health”, was targeted on Thursday morning. Kermanpour called this a “direct assault on international health security” and a violation of Geneva Conventions, calling on international health bodies to “condemn this attack, assess damages support reconstruction”.
The medical research centre was founded in 1920, and is one of at least 316 hospitals, healthcare and medical service facilities which have been damaged or destroyed since the start of the US-Israeli attacks against Iran, according to the Iranian Red Crescent.
