MANCHESTER, Jamaica – In recent weeks the grounds of Manchester High have been transformed with its inaugural night football competition dubbed 'Under Di Light'.The seven versus seven (7v7) clash is being done in collaboration with Julex Auto Sales and Footballin90.The weekly event commenced on Sunday, April 19, at Manchester High School and is expected to culminate on June 21.“The title partnership delivered the first-ever night football event on the school’s grounds, bringing together six teams from surrounding communities for a professional match-day experience before a strong family turnout,” Manchester High coach Okevie Lambert said in a recent statement.Principal of Manchester High School, Jasford Gabriel, hailed the night event as a landmark moment for the institution and the wider Manchester community.“Absolutely wonderful evening of football and another piece of history created here at Manchester High.

It’s the first time we are hosting night football, and it’s just a wonderful atmosphere where families can feel free to send out their children for nice, clean fun,” Gabriel said, adding that the event also has developmental value for players and the suitability of the venue.“The participants are getting to play against past players who have excelled. The pace that the game is played at is very fast. The environment is ideal for this kind of football. We have enough facilities all around — people can stay out on top of the hill, close to the action. I think this has great potential,” said Gabriel. He lauded title sponsor Julex Auto Sales and the school’s event organisers for staging the competition.“To Julex Auto Sales — I can’t say thanks enough. Mr Boswell Smith has always been there supporting our programmes and he was the first to come on board as our title sponsor. He loves young people and he is always investing in their future. In a short time the organising team were able to put this together, and the level of organisation is at a high level,” said Gabriel.
