
Man drowns in ice while fishing in Saarijärvi

A man died after falling through ice into a lake in Saarijärvi, a municipality in Central Finland region on Saturday, police said in a press release. The incident took place at about 11:00 a.m. when the man went to catch fish and at certain stage drowned into the thin ice of the lake. Responding to an alarm from a bystander rescue service people and police rushed to the spot and recovered the body from the ice about 10 matters away from the shore.

The police, however, did not divulge the identity of the deceased. The police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the deaths but did not suspect any crime link to the incident.
